Age requirements
Children must be 16 or under for the duration of the entire season they register for. if a child turns 17 at any point during the season, they will be classed as an adult from the beginning of that season.
An adult is considered anyone 17 years or older as at the end of that season.
Player eligibility
Teams must have at least four players to commence the game with both age groups represented.
There can be no more than three players of any age group on the court at one time.
If prior to commencement of a game a team has insufficient eligible players, normal late start penalties will apply. After 10 minutes have elapsed, a walkover will be awarded if a team still cannot field a team.
Key violation
All players are permitted in any area of the open court (excluding keys).
Prior to the commencement of a game, one keyway will be nominated as the fdult female key for the entire game.
Adult female players from both teams will only be permitted in the female key.
Underage children are permitted to enter both keys without restriction.
No adult male is permitted to enter ANY key.
The team named first on the scoresheet has choice of ends in the first half.
Half time sees the teams change ends to which they are going, but the fey nomination is retained.
The key penalty is a violation. Intentional violations will result in a technical foul.
Defending rules
No player may defend another player of the opposite gender or age group from behind. (Examples- stealing the ball from behind or reaching into the key and grabbing the ball off an opponent of the opposite gender or age group.)
A defending team may not defend the opposite gender or age group in the opponents back court.
10 point rule
No player is permitted to score more than ten points until all other active (present and not injured) team members on the scoresheet have scored ten points. Once this has occurred, all players will be permitted to score a further ten points with identical restrictions.
If a player on nine or nineteen points scores a field goal or free throws, points will count.
At any time, regardless of a player's score count, if the player is deliberately fouled, they will go to the line and the points will count. The team will retain possession as per an unsportsmanlike foul.
Where an ineligible player is fouled in an eight foul situation, an alternate eligible player of the same sex will be nominated to go to the line.
A violation will be awarded when an ineligible player scores, and no points will be counted. The scorers are to notify the umpires when this occurs.
It is the responsibility of the scorers to advise the player or team when a player becomes ineligible.
