MIXED COMP

Player eligibility

Teams must have at least four players to commence the game with both sexes represented.

There can be no more than three players of any sex on court at one time.

If prior to the commencement of a game, a team has insufficient eligible players, normal late start penalties will apply. After 10 minutes have elapsed, a walkover will be awarded if a team still cannot field a team.

Keyway violation

Prior to the commencement of a game, one key will be nominated as the female key and the other the male key for the entire game.

Female players from both teams will only be permitted in the female key and male players will be only permitted entry into the male key.

The team named first on the scoresheet has choice of ends in the first half.

At half time the teams change their scoring ends, but the key nomination is retained.

The key penalty is a violation. Intentional violations will result in a technical foul.

10 point rule

No player is permitted to score more than ten points until all other active (present and not injured) team members on the scoresheet have scored ten points. Once this has occurred, all players will be permitted to score a further ten points with identical restrictions.

If a player on nine or nineteen points cores a field goal or free throws, points will count.

At any time, regardless of a player’s score count, if the player is deliberately fouled, they will go to the line and the points will count. The team will retain possession as per an unsportsmanlike foul.

Where an ineligible player is fouled in an eight foul situation, an alternate eligible player of the same sex will be nominated to go to the line.

A violation will be awarded when an ineligible player scores, and no points will be counted. The scorers are to notify the umpires when this occurs.

It is the responsibility of the scorers to advise the player or team when a player becomes ineligible.

Guarding rule

No player may defend another player of the opposite sex from behind. (Examples – stealing the ball from behind or reaching into the key and grabbing the ball off an opponent of the opposite sex.)

No player may defend against a player of the opposite sex in the back court (half court defence).
