PICKLEBALL RULES - Tournament

Our tournaments are played using our regular rules, found here, with some small clarifications and changes.

Timing

Each game slot is 8 minutes. 7 minutes of game time, then 1 minute of transition time into the next game.

Once time is called, the game continues until the end of that point.

For regular finals, timing is the same. The grand final, however, will have extended time allocated.

Winning

The winner is determined by either:

  • Reaching 11 points (still must win by two, as usual).

  • Most points at the end of the allocated game time.

If a winner is determined early, continue to play for fun until the end of the time slot.

Ties

If there is a tie, play one more serve (not next point wins, just one more serve).

If it’s still a tie after that serve, log that game as a tie.

Liner

If it is unclear whether the ball was in or out:

  1. Consult someone on the sidelines if available, and they decide.

  2. If no one saw it, or the sideline observers disagree, attempt to come to a friendly agreement.

  3. If the game is competitive, replay the point entirely (same server serves).
